Dharur Dam, Dharur, Maharashtra
Dharur Dam is an earth fill dam
located in Dharur Village in Akot Taluk in Akola District in the Indian state
of Maharashtra. This dam is locally called Dharur Talav / Dharur Lake. The dam was constructed in 1988 by the Government of
Maharashtra.
The Dam
It is an earth fill gravity dam built
across a local stream. The
height of the dam above lowest foundation is 12.92 m (43 ft) while the length
is 1038 m (3406 ft). The maximum / gross storage capacity is 0.85 MCM. This dam
is a multipurpose dam used for irrigation and drinking water supply. The dam is
also a popular tourist attraction and known for its scenic beauty.
Connectivity
The dam is located at about 2.5 Kms
from Popatkhed, 16 Kms from Akot, 16 Kms from Akot Bus Stand, 16 Kms from Akot
Railway Station, 65 Kms from Akola, 68 Kms from Harisal and 257 Kms from Nagpur
Airport. The dam is situated at about 2.5 Kms to the south west of Popatkhed on
Akot to Harisal route.
