Agonda Beach, Canacona, Goa

Agonda Beach is a public beach located in Agonda Village in Canacona Taluk in South Goa District of Goa, India. Agonda Beach is one of the four beaches in Goa designated as turtle nesting sites under the Coastal Regulation Zone 2011 notification. This beach was ranked on TripAdvisor's "Travelers Choice" as fourth in Asia and first in India by TripAdvisor in 2016. It is situated to the north of Palolem Beach.

The Beach

This beach is a 3 kms long pristine stretch of beach. It is one of the cleanest beaches of Goa and surprisingly less crowded. It is an excellent spot for sunbathing, swimming and relaxing because of the fewer crowds. It is famous for its astonishing view of sunset around the Agonda cliff. It is considered as one of the most romantic beaches in Goa. The borderline of the shores comes up with beautifully aligned coconut trees and palm trees.

Local fishermen take tourists to sea on boat rides for sighting dolphins for certain price. The beach stretch has an ancient Agonda Church, the Saint Anne's Church and few academic institutions. The beach serves as a nesting ground for olive ridley sea turtles during the month of September. There is one more beach on the north side of Agonda cliff called Cola beach which has an adjoining lagoon.

Connectivity

The beach is located at about 1 Km from Agonda Bus Stand, 9 Kms from Canacona Bus Stand, 9 Kms from Canacona Railway Station, 9 Kms from Palolem Beach, 37 Kms from Margao, 61 Kms from Goa Airport and 68 Kms from Panaji.
