Chadwick Falls, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh
Chadwick Falls is a waterfall located in Shimla City in Shimla district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the best waterfalls in the Shimla region and one of the top tourist destinations of Shimla City.
History
The name Chadwick is derived from Chidku Jhaar where Chidku means sparrow and Jhaar means waterfall in the local language. It was named so because the locals thought only sparrows could reach the top of the waterfall and not humans. The Britishers found it difficult to pronounce this name and hence started calling the waterfall Chadwick falls.
The Falls
The falls is situated at an altitude of about 1586 m above sea level. The water cascades down a deep gorge at a height of 86 m. This waterfall is tucked away in the mountains amidst dense forest of pine and deodar trees. The best time to visit the falls is after monsoons during the months of July to October.

The waterfall is located at about 2.5 Kms from Summer
Hill Railway Station, 4 Kms from Shimla Railway Station, 5 Kms from Shimla New
Bus Stand, 5 Kms from Shimla Old Bus Stand and 15 Kms from Shimla Airport. Shimla
is well-connected by road network to all major cities in north India and all
major towns and district headquarters within the state. National Highway
5 connects Shimla to the Chandigarh. This waterfall can be approached
through Summer Hill. Vehicles can get close to the entry point of the
waterfall. Tourists need to walk for about 10 minutes to reach the waterfall.
